TREE GIRLS

Teens Responding to the Environment and Economy
Goals of Independence, Resilience, and Living Sustainably

Welcome to the Tree Girls website! I'm glad you're interested in our project, and I hope you plan to follow us through our journey as we strive to build our first tiny house. Our group is currently in the fundraising and material gathering stage.

We're a group of teenagers concerned with the state of the economy and the impact that our activities are having on the environment. We feel that by downsizing, living a simpler life, and reducing our amount of waste, we can work towards a better future.

NEWS

05/16/2012 - The past couple of months have been quite productive for us~ We had a wonderful weekend of bakesales back on the weekend of 4/14 and 4/15. We've also been getting hands-on experience with the guys (and girls) at Habitat For Humanity, volunteering on 3/17, 4/7, 4/21, 4/28, and 5/12. We also visited the Habitat For Humanity's 'Pancake Breakfast' on the 12th for mother's day!

Now that we've discussed the past, let's move on to the future! We've got another bake sale coming up on the 27th, same place as usual! Everyone: come show your support, and donate while eating our cookies!

Webmaster's Note- I'll have pictures from our adventures up sometime tomorrow; just have to clean up some coding issues~

03/13/2012 - Hey there- just want to give a shout-out to everyone that visited our bake sale over the weekend! Seems we made a few too many cookies though! Thanks for the help everyone! We've got a couple of pictures of our bake sale up now, so check 'em out!

02/29/2012 - Happy Leap Day! Our webmaster has been having some difficulties updating the webiste, but here it is! We had a great amount of fun working on the Habitat build on the 25th, and we're still looking forward to the Home Show! Anyway, we've got some pictures from the build earlier, so don't forget to check them out!

02/24/2012 - Volunteering with Habitat For Humanity both this weekend and next weekend, looking forward to it. We're also planning on going to the New Hampshire Home Show at the Center of New Hampshire next weekend.

A quick note- In February 20th's issue of Time Magazine there's a note saying disposable water bottles less than a gallon in size are now banned from Grand Canyon National Park. Small bottles make up 20% of all garbage removed from the park. This is a great step towards being green!

02/19/2012 - We've now got our hands on 3 more windows!

02/15/2012 - We may not not yet have a house, but at least we'll know we've got a good window to put in it!
